Medieval combat. Authentic armour, steel weapons, full-contact
What is buhurt?
In Finland the sport is called buhurt or Medieval Combat Sport (MCS). It’s about full contact fighting in medieval armour with medieval weapons. The safety of the sport is ensured by marshals and very strict, although simple, rules. Buhurt is fought in duels, and in group combat where two teams of sizes all the way up to 30 fight against each other.
Buhurt in Finland
The roof organization for the sport in Finland is Medieval Combat Sport Finland, under which every local club operates. The purpose of the MCSF is to develop the sport in Finland nationally. There are over hundred members in the MCSF. The MCSF board consists of active members from several local clubs, which collaborate closely. For clubs which do not currently have a board member in MCSF, there is a nominated representative present. He/she acts as an observer to increase visibility, transparency and communication.
