Finnish national league

Medieval Combat Sport’s Finnish national league is fought each year in two categories: 1vs1 and 3vs3. There are seperate categories for both men and women. League tournaments are held several times a year and they are organized mainly by local buhurt clubs.

In the 1vs1 category, fighters face each other according to either profight or other duel fighting rules. The league organization always includes the knight marshal, secretary and four assisting marshals that calculate points. The duel pairs are formed of two fighters from the same weight category and different buhurt clubs. In the league, fighters collect points by winning or losing the fights. Total points are summed at the end of the season and best fighters from both men’s and women’s categories are rewarded. More information:

In the 3vs3 category, local buhurt clubs form their own buhurt teams and participate in different national buhurt tournaments. Teams fight according to HMB or IMCF rules depending on the tournament. The league organization always includes the knight marshal, secretary and two assisting marshals. The winner of each tournament is awarded with 3 league points, second best 2 points and third best 1 point. Total points are summed at the end of the season and best teams are rewarded.
